What is Flamenco?

Flamenco brings together musical influences from all the cultures that infleunced Andalusia for thousands of years. It is also synominous with the gypsy community who helped shape its development since the 15th century.

The word flamenco was first used in southern spain in the 19th century when many venues featured live performances.

Beginning in Cadiz and Seville they quickly spread to most big towns, including Barcelona.

Having had a major revival in recent years flamenco has developed in many ways but has never lost its incredible intensity and passion. A flamenco night is something that shouldn't be missed on any visit to Spain.

We organise a Flemenco night for students which also includes food and drinks as well as flemenco lessons for those up to the challenge of the real thing!
